Daily Charter

2.5 HOURS
The Daily Charter is AllSeaZen's most popular experience — and for good reason. You book the whole boat for your group and spend two uninterrupted hours on the James River however you want. No strangers, no shared schedule, no one steering the conversation somewhere you didn't want to go.

Morning light on the James hits differently. The city hasn't woken up yet, the herons are still hunting the shallows, and the water is glassy in a way that it won't be again until next dawn. Afternoon tours carry a different energy — warmer, more social, the kind of afternoon that turns into a fond memory before it's even over.

TOUR 02
Sunset Cruise
$300 BOAT RENTAL
MIN 2 · MAX 10
2.5 HOURS
The Sunset Cruise is the one people talk about for years. There is a moment — usually around 7:15 on a clear evening — when the Richmond skyline catches the last of the light and the whole James River turns to something between copper and gold. You can see this from the shore, but from the water, it wraps around you.

This tour is the one we recommend for proposals, anniversaries, first dates that deserve to be unforgettable, and anyone who's been putting off treating themselves to something genuinely beautiful. We can arrange flowers, balloons, or custom décor — just call us ahead of time and tell us what you have in mind.

Come Meet Us on the Water
The best way to understand what AllSeaZen's is about isn't to read about it — it's to show up at the dock, step aboard, and let the river do the talking.

and a captain who knows every bend.

TOUR 03
Holiday Cruise
MIN 2 · MAX 10
2.5 HOURS
Some seasons call for something more than a dinner reservation. The Holiday Cruise is AllSeaZen's answer to the question of how to mark the year's most significant moments in a way that actually feels significant — not just checked-off.

Whether it's Thanksgiving with the people who matter most, Christmas Eve on the water with the city lights reflected on the James, a New Year's Eve toast as Richmond counts down from the shore, or any holiday that deserves a backdrop worth remembering — we make it happen. Timing and availability are flexible; the experience is anything but.

Spots fill quickly for holiday dates, especially November and December. We strongly recommend reaching out at least 3–4 weeks in advance to secure your date.

YOUR TOUR, STEP BY STEP
What to Expect on the Day
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
We take care of everything
While you're on your way to the dock, we're already at work. The boat is cleaned and stocked with soft drinks and water, your captain is reviewing the day's weather and water conditions, and if you've added the charcuterie board or wine, those are being prepared fresh. By the time you pull into the parking lot, the only thing left to do is arrive.
30 MINUTES BEFORE DEPARTURE
Check-in & welcome
We ask all guests to arrive 30 minutes early — not because we run a tight ship (we do), but because we want you to have a few minutes to get comfortable, meet your captain, and settle in before we cast off. We'll go over the brief safety orientation, help you get seated, and make sure everyone has a drink in hand before we leave the dock.
ON THE WATER
Two and a half hours, completely yours
Once we're underway, the next two hours belong entirely to your group. Your captain will navigate the James River, point out wildlife, share a little history if you're interested, and give you complete space if you're not. If you added a charcuterie board or wine, those come out once you're settled on the water. The music plays, and the city starts to look very different from fifteen feet off the shore.
WILDLIFE & VIEWS
The river puts on a show
The James River is home to bald eagles, great blue herons, osprey, river otters, and countless other species. On a clear morning, you may see all of them. Your captain knows where to look and when — and will slow down without being asked when something worth seeing appears off the bow. Bring a camera. You'll use it.
RETURN TO DOCK
The best kind of ending
When we return to the dock, most guests don't want to leave — which we take as the highest compliment. We'll help you off the boat, make sure you have everything you brought aboard, and point you toward our favorite nearby restaurants if you're looking for somewhere to continue the evening. The river will still be there when you want to come back. We hope you do.
Every Season on the James
Is Worth the Trip
The river changes with the seasons — and so does what you'll see, feel, and remember. There's no bad time to be on the water.
SPRING
The River Comes Alive
Osprey return to their nesting grounds. The shoreline greens almost overnight. The water is crisp and the light is soft. Spring mornings on the James are some of the most vivid, alive hours you'll spend outdoors all year.
SUMMER
Long Days, Warm Water
The James in summer is warm and social. Late afternoon tours catch the golden light just before it becomes a sunset. Eagles are active and visible. The city hum on the shore feels miles away. Evening tours linger well past dusk.
FALL
The Photographer's Season
September and October on the James are nothing short of cinematic. The foliage turns the banks into a gallery. The light is warm and horizontal. Sunsets stretch on forever. This is the season our guests talk about most. Book early — it goes fast.
WINTER
Quiet, Still, Extraordinary
Winter on the James surprises people. The water is glass-calm, the bare trees reveal wildlife you'd miss in leaf cover, and the city skyline looks sharper against a grey winter sky. Holiday cruises in December are our most requested tours all year.
Our Policies & Commitments to You
GOOD TO KNOW
Weather Policy
We don't cancel for light rain — the James River in a drizzle has its own kind of beauty. We only cancel when conditions are genuinely unsafe. If that happens, you'll hear from us at least 2 hours before departure, and we'll reschedule at no extra cost. No penalties, no hassle.
Cancellation Policy
Full refund for cancellations made 48 hours or more before your departure. Within 48 hours, we'll do our best to reschedule based on availability. We understand that life happens — just reach out directly and we'll work with you. We're a family operation, and we treat our guests like family.
Children & Families
Children of all ages are welcome aboard. All guests 12 and under are required to wear a USCG-approved life vest, which we provide. The tours are gentle and calm — no rough water, no aggressive speed. We ask parents to supervise children on deck, and we take care of everything else.
Outside Food & Drinks
You're welcome to bring a small cooler with additional snacks or beverages. Outside alcohol is permitted. We just ask that containers be sealed when boarding and that guests drink responsibly. Your captain's job is to get you home safely — and they take that seriously.
Pets
We love animals — and we love that you brought this up. Small, well-behaved dogs are welcome aboard on a case-by-case basis. Please call ahead to let us know so we can make sure your pup is comfortable and that our captain is prepared. There may be an additional fee.
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to experience the James River. Please contact us in advance if any member of your group has mobility concerns or accessibility needs, and we'll work with you directly to make sure we can accommodate comfortably and safely. We will always do our best.
